Event

MTA Nationals will be held January 25, 26, 27, at the Gold Coast. OVER 3 DAYS! In the same location as previous years. Tallebudgera Creek Resort.

NEW FORMAT - DIVISIONS NOW AVAILABLE FOR NOVICE, INTERMEDIATE AND OPEN. Classes available for registration include:

The event is the biggest tournament on the MTA calendar. It is a fantastic opportunity to compete with people from all over Australia and compete for who is the national Muaythai champion for your age and weight. Many competitors get more than one bout and vastly increase their competition experience by attending.

Entering – when you enter, you enter your weight division and age. You then select your class (C, B or A) from the drop down menu. We will then group everyone in the class entered. If there is no one in your class, we will match people based on experience, age and weight. All entrants MUST be a member of an MTA registered club.

All bouts are MTA rules. http://www.muaythaiaustralia.com.au/about/forms-and-rules/

This event will crown the MTA Australian Muaythai Champions for Adults and Juniors. It is a qualifier for the MTA Australian Team for International events including IFMA World Championships, Asian Games and Junior World Championships.

It doesn't matter if you are a registered pro or amateur anywhere in Australia, only that you enter the class that meets your fight record, including ALL fights (like inter-club competitions and development days. States that call inter-clubs – sparring days, include these as well as to not cheat about your record)

Adults and Juniors: (Includes ALL Combat Sports bouts)

  • A Class - OPEN - 16+ Fight Experience.
  • B Class 6-15 fights. INTERMEDIATE
  • C Class (0 - 5 fights) NOVICE

Trainers MUST be at the draw to have input or the answer is ‘NO’ to any matching outside entered divisions.

Everyone that enters is illegible to be selected for the National Team, as selection is not only based on who wins open, but the full extent of the selection policy. If an entrant has received a medal at IFMA Worlds previously, they are invited to compete in the open class, even if they have less than the required fights. If an entrant has received a GOLD medal at Adult IFMA, is Number one ranked in Australia, or far more experienced than other entrants, we will aim to match one off fights for these A-class people)

All ages for juniors are as at 15 Sep 2020 (in line with IFMA World Championships). All adult ages are as at the event.

World Championships for 2020 for Juniors is Sep-Oct, for Adults, August. All Australian Team selection will be based on ages that match the dates for this event.

The MTA nationals are a tournament style event. All bouts are in accordance with MTA rules for tournaments. The MTA may match one off professional fights during the event to ensure all classes are catered for. The MTA may also match by seed, if there is a distinct experience level variation in the division.

For all Australian Team information, please refer to the Australian Team Selection policy at -www.muaythaiaustralia.com.au.
